Turn model clashes into owned coordination issues

A clash becomes useful only when the team agrees on model versions, issue classification, responsibility, due dates, and verification.

01

Control the model set first

Autodesk Model Coordination detects clashes across supported models placed in a configured coordination space. Results are only meaningful when the team knows which files, versions, disciplines, and locations are included.

  • Approved folder or coordination space
  • Expected disciplines
  • Model naming convention
  • Publish cutoff
  • Excluded or reference-only files
02

Do not turn every clash into an issue

Automated clash results require triage. Agree on tolerances, duplicates, acceptable conditions, and issue categories so the team spends attention on coordination decisions that matter.

  • Group related clashes
  • Remove duplicates
  • Apply agreed tolerances
  • Distinguish design from installation issues
  • Record the location and affected systems
03

Close the loop through issues

Autodesk issues can carry types, custom attributes, statuses, permissions, and project context; coordination issues can also synchronize with Navisworks through the supported add-in. Use that issue record to preserve ownership and verification.

  • Name one responsible party
  • Set a due date
  • Attach the relevant viewpoint or context
  • Record the agreed resolution
  • Verify the updated model before closing
